Arlington’s Wellness Center is a space on campus designed to create relaxation and safety for students. A home away from home. Students are invited to visit if they need a quiet space to take a break, to connect with others and to receive support. Students can also access resources including school supplies. 

The Wellness Center houses both Student Assistance Program (SAP) Counselors and our School Psychologists. The SAP Counselors are licensed therapists that provide as needed crisis support and ongoing therapy services. They can also be of service to families who may need to be connected to additional resources and support outside of school. 

We invite all students to visit the Wellness Center sometime or to participate in some of our activities.

The implementation of AVID instructional strategies benefits Arlington students schoolwide. Arlington teachers are trained in AVID strategies to support student learning. AVID strategies, particularly through WICOR (writing, inquiry, collaboration, organization, and reading), help improve academic performance for all students. Through WICOR implementation, students gain the skills to be college- and career-ready.  

WICOR: Schoolwide Strategies for Success 

Students who write engage frequently, in every content area and classroom. They cite evidence to support their thinking and deepen their understanding of content. They learn to demonstrate command of academic vocabulary and communicate what they have learned. 

Students who inquire know how to analyze and synthesize materials or ideas. They can clarify their own thinking, probe others’ thinking, and solve authentic problems on their own and with others.

Students who collaborate work through identified structures and roles to achieve a common goal. They develop positive interdependence and can clearly communicate verbally and nonverbally. Students who collaborate also listen effectively to decipher meaning and deepen others' learning through inquiry and active engagement.

Students who organize, develop, and use tools to organize thinking, resources, and time. They know how to use processes, procedures, and tools to study effectively, prepare for rigorous courses, and engage fully in instruction. 

Students who read, activate, engage, and extend beyond the text. They can make predictions and create.
